What are Omega-3 Fish Oil?

Omega-3 are good fats that are essential for us to stay healthy. Our body cannot make them and hence we need to get them through our diet. There are different types of Omega 3s but amongst them Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA), Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA), and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) are the most available. The ALAs are plant based whereas EPAs and DHAs are derived from fatty fishes.

What are the benefits of EPA and DHA?

EPA is the most favourable omega-3 fatty acid for heart health, mood support, and anti-inflammation. It is important for our circulatory system and helps maintain normal cholesterol and triglyceride levels. DHA is required for supporting your eye, brain, and skin health. It is essential for expecting and new mothers, and promotes normal eye and brain development in foetuses and newborns.

As per the Indian Council of medical research (ICMR), one needs to consume a minimum of 250 mg to 2g of EPA and DHA per day to get the desired health benefits. It means we need to consume 5-6 servings of fatty fishes daily to get the required amount. Alternatively, if fish is not a part of our normal diet, then we should take a fish oil supplement daily that contains at least 900 mg of EPA and DHA.

This product may contain Vitamin D or Collagen which is derived from non-vegetarian sources such as fish, chicken, or eggs, for higher potency. We do not use any beef or pig source in any of our products.

Fish oil supplements are taken any time of the day. However, if you ask the best time, we would recommend consuming the supplement with one of your meals. Fish oil is better absorbed with meals rather than on an empty stomach.
